Broadcaster David Wigg interviewed The Beatles individually for the BBC Radio 1 program 'Scene and Heard' between 1969 and 1973, capturing them during and post their break-up. The dates listed and read out by Wigg are mostly wrong (and most Bealtes... See full review

Great sounding pressing was pressed from the same mother as the UK -2 stereo. A lot of the Australian Beatles albums used either tapes made by EMI UK or the same mothers used to stamp the UK pressings. These Aussie pressings sound nearly identical to... See full review

Great sounding pressing. This is the cheapest way to buy the UK 1965 "loud cut" (-1) as it was pressed from the same mother. A lot of the Australian Beatles albums used either tapes made by EMI UK or the same mothers used to stamp the UK pressings. ... See full review

The Audio Technica 60x has a spring loaded tone arm, where as the Music Hall is a great turntable with a real counter weight. This pressing is too hot for lower end turntables (much like Daft Punk - Discovery) and this is why a lot of people are thinking the... See full review

$5000 is a tiny budget for an album, especially in 1989. In that case, the producer was expected to work miracles under those conditions! Thank you for the insight.

Great pressing of the stereo version. Fairly common to come by too.

The infamous Raven Records release. For reasons unknown, Raven reissued the album using ONLY the left hand channel from the original stereo master and then centering it into mono to create a "fake mono" mix. This means all the information in the... See full review

Thanks for the update. It seems that this album is cut hot with lots of bass. It's common for lower end turntables to skip from these kind of albums. This is why back in the 70's they use to cut a lot of low end out of records, so they could play... See full review

A great sound record mastering wise. But mine was pretty dirty and took a few cleans and plays (getting out the white specks of crap being plowed up by the stylus) to get it quiet.

My copy is warped, which is common for one sided discs. Be prepared to get out your clamp/puck. Really should have been a two sided release, most people could have done without the warping for an etching.

Otherwise, quiet vinyl, decent sound.

A really nice sounding pressing. Quiet with a high quality jacket.

Comes in a generic white paper sleeve, which means expect a few cracks and pops. The printing on the cover is also a full scanned jacket with the same type font as the Light In The Attic pressing. Lots of bottom end on this cut, the vocals cut... See full review

Getting that record out of the inner sleeve was an effort. It took me about 5 minutes of rocking the record side to side without tearing the sides. My copy with slightly warp, but it did not effect the play.

On the positive side: the sound... See full review

The original 1968 was also really compressed sounding. Vigil was never a audiophile album. It was a compiled from four different sessions (not including the demo 'Bring A Little Lovin') over 12 months.

There is no new content on this release to warrant a 4 CD release. Alberts have made the bizarre choice to release each side of the vinyl release as it's own CD (despite a CD being able to hold up to 80 minutes of audio). The original CD from the... See full review

This pressing decodes nicely into 4 Channels, but requires the use of a SQ decoder for maximum effect. However, you can get away with using a Dolby Pro Logic decoder, but the soundstage will be messed up.

It is. It's electrical crackle and hum from the on stage gear, not any defects in the vinyl.

This early CD is a great sounding transfer with the original mono mixes. A tight and clean sounding disc. The only (very minor) setback is the tracks fade out half a second sooner than on any other release. Worth hunting down.

To be clear - it was the first popular music CD manufactured but not the first to be released to market. The first CD to be produced for sale was Chopin*, Claudio Arrau - Waltzes = Walzer = Valses, it was manufactured on 17 August 1982, but not released commercially until 1983. ... See full review
