Lovely sleeve. Horrible pressing, as noted by many others just noisy and carelessly pressed. Scrimp on pressing costs and I guess you get a disappointing product VMP!

Sound is pretty good, did need to turn on my sub to get a bit more low end thump, guessing it's a product of a 33rpm pressing with a lot of mins on each side. Other than that I don't have too many issues sound wise. The pressing on all three discs... See full review

Well audio is personal. But can't agree with you. I've looked to see if this is an analog cut but don't see any evidence of it, which you would expect If analog masters were involved - they would shout that from the rooftops,
as they shoud. Tape... See full review

Big smiley face. Would Inhave preferred preferred a more "premium pressing" 100%. But sounds great for a modern recording in these times. Sanders sax is warm and soulful. Present right there in the soundstage. Everything has room to breath.... See full review

Be glad you got it 5+ years ago then. Your review at no point mentions sound quality. I'm not here to litigate missing tracks, but sounds pretty solid for a recording that was digital in the first place. There is distortion in places. But so did the... See full review

Great performance. Noisy as hell vinyl sadly, even after a good clean.

Have to agree here. Miserable pressing. For a "quiet" album like this the pops and clicks are unforgivable and highly distracting. Sounds like a record someone hasn't taken care of right out the shrink (even after a clean) GZ pressing?

Sounds absolutely superb. Packaging is a joy too (would have preferred poly lined inners though). Discs were flat and clean with little to no surface noise. Mastering is dynamic with deep (not bloated) bass. Despite balking at the shipping costs... See full review

Mmmm where do I start with this? I have loved this album since release but only ever owned on CD. I was excited to see this reissue and immediately paid up (including pricey shipping from the UK) for this pressing. It arrived out the blue today and... See full review

Well it's all subjective. But the kick drum sounds more natural. The bass guitar is tighter a tad more defined. Transients are snappier in general too. But I guess everyone will have their own tastes. I tried back to back from the disc and from DSD... See full review

Mine is copy 443, I don't encounter any of the "muffled" sound you fear, sounds pretty good actually. I don't have an original UK pressing but can compare to the Rhino reissue that is pretty well regarded. It certainly sounds different to the Rhino,... See full review

So. Worthy reissue. Needless color variant and typical shitty GZ pressing. Seriously, record labels, stop using GZ unless you want the industry to die again. I'm sure they are cheap but the pressings are inconsistent at best, unlistenable at worst.

Typically optimal have a good reputation but I have a few of these Porcupine Tree reissues and the vinyl noise floor is disappoitingly high on all. The music on top of that noise sounds superb though. Detail, separation, no hint of sibilance on the... See full review

I love the album, a highly underrated release from the early 90's. This pressing though sounds very "digital" and not in a good way - pretty fatiguing listing. Brash top end and extremely bright. TBH I don't have an OG pressing to compare, only ever... See full review

Great music but side 2 of disc 1 on my copy appears to have a pressing defect, left channel has issues with non fill. Very disappointing. Download card only provides mp3 files too - would be nice to have hi res download option in this day and age,

Bought this from VMP when originally released. Sounds horrible, anemic and harsh like a bad digital transfer. Got to be better options out there than this unless you really need the gimicky aspects VMP early releases were packaged with.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion of course. But this pressing/mastering does not sound muddy at all. An all analogue cut at a fantastic price. No need to fork out silly $ on a used Classic Records issue now.
