Mine was shipped early, today (sept 20). My peter murphy lps were shipped early as well when pre-ordering

This was the first depeche mode record I bought in 1984. A friend lent me See You and Get The Balance Right 12" singles. I saw them at a small hall in 1985 here in the states with about 800. Fast forward 37 years and I've amassed a collection any fan... See full review

With all the bands 4ad has been re-issuing, why are they avoiding the first 2 clan records - I mean wtf

Great record, probably the last of their best. It was awesome to see live - couple hours at least

Digitally recorded releases from artists were becoming more prevalent in the 80's, especially towards the later part of the decade. Fagen released Nightfly in 82 - all ddd as well as Peter Gabriel's Security the same year. The only other release from... See full review

Only the Songs From The Big Chair bluray release has the hi-res flac download. The Hurting is just mp3. Songs is very high quality

No mention of the 5.1 sacd layer. That's where the magic lies and without the proper equipment, many are missing out on one of the best mutichannel releases ever made

I recall mine in a long box when purchased - probably 87/88'

Once again, the analog lp rules. You absolutely cannot go wrong with a NM US release

Sometimes you have to take the good with the bad. I can't tell you how many times I've emailed, packaged and mailed a lp back for whatever reason, only to get another with the exact same issue (skip, seem splits, warp, etc..). So, now if the record... See full review

Mine came with a slight warp that dnap. Also had spindle marks/cracks. Could have been enjoyed before me. Sound is good

Man... listen to the record several times and you'll see what a masterpiece the entire lp is. It's edgy, nervous with tracks like Intruder and I don't remember. Not to mention Phil's booming drumming on several tracks.

I remember when it first came out. I saw it, and the english issue at my local high-end stereo shop. I couldn't afford either at the high price of 17.99. Had to resort to a domestic copy. I now have 5 copies of this album including a sacd - lol

Any release (lp, cassette or cd) pre 85 will serve you well. My older brother had the double cassette and I was always amazed at how loud I could crank it in the car or at home. One of the BEST 70's live mixes out there.

I agree with chickentender. Excellent - rougher lp. if you didn't grow up in the era or see them live on this tour, you could be skeptical.

I have this gatefold variant and mine is translucent - purchased in 86'

My copy is mark free with no play flaws. Sounds pretty good, but digitally sourced

Mine came the same way and not sure what to do. The record is flawless and sounds excellent. As UrquhartBluff said, would be less of a hassle if we could get warner to replace the sleeve

Sorry this comes late. Yes, totally agree that it's the 5.1 layer reasoning to buy this, or any other in the series. I haven't listened to the stereo sacd layer, honestly. You can read about how it all came together here:... See full review

If you have a 2nd US release on vinyl, take a close look under a bright light. It's translucent brown just like the earlier US Factory releases of Movement and Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures. Virgin audiofile vinyl at its best.

Ok. I had to do another comparison. I have the German embossed pressing. I listened to State Of The Nation and they both sound great. I still have not listened to this bootleg all the way through. I stopped short years ago after playing the first few... See full review

I checked and it is. I have several translucent records - JD Unknown Pleasures - original US press, Police - Synchronicity, New Order Movement - Original US press, many Japanese pressings and more that I can't recall off the top of my head. They all... See full review

I find it strange that the extended/mixed tracks are stuffed in the middle of the cd. Why break up the lp? The only other one out there that I'm aware of is Howard Jones Humans Lib, and only one track - What is Love extended.

I just found out I have a copy of this. It really is as good as GeezerRock wrote. Bought this when I was a sophomore in high school - 79. Made a tape and put it away. I'm glad I did.

You can extract them with a DVD extractor program and convert to mp3 or wave. I did it on all of the dvd's and they sound excellent

Trevor Horn masterfully produced this record. The analog playback is incredible and so easy on the ears at high volume.
posted a comment on Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms. about 1 year ago
When I wrote about it 3 years ago, I was definitely talking about the multi-channel sacd layer. Very harsh sounding on the high end. Not easy on the ears like Avalon, or Gaucho. It is by far the worst in my collection.

As with Avalon, this multichannel release is phenomenal. Gilmour's guitar work compliments Ferry perfectly. Not to mention, guitar solo's from Knopfler are apparent throughout

Really good re-issue. We all would love to have an original, but for the $$ this will suffice any re-issue skeptic.

I had to crack this one open and compare it to the UK release. Once again, the original blows away the re-release. Better sound stage and detail overall. However, the 2020 is really good. You won't be disappointed with it IMO. Haven't listened to... See full review
