I can imagine people are frustrated about the high prices here on Discogs, but don't blame the vinyl. In this case the remastered Friday pressing is great (which I cannot say unfortunately about Earthling). No noise, a clear balanced sound and a nice deep bass.

I love I'm Deranged, and on this pressing it really sounds perfect!

Anything "Mastered by Joe Reagoso" for Friday Music isn't worth $2. Anyone spending $200 is out of their mind. This is a disastrous reissue and most likely pressed from the CD. Ridiculous price. This is garbage.

Dreadful reissue of a truly brilliant album. Very thin sound, showing all the signs of having been sourced from CD. It’s also probably not without significance that the pages from the CD booklet are produced at CD size. This is a shoddy release and I’m surprised at how many positive comments it’s had on here - I guess that just shows how desperate people are to have the full-length album on vinyl. You’d be better off tracking down the Excerpts From Outside LP ( which sounds amazing) or waiting for the upcoming Parlophone edition. The Friday Music release is best avoided.

My favourite album of all time. There is only one issue I have with 'Outside' and its that you have to get a FridayMusic pressing if you want the full version meaning you have that horrible, cumbersome tri-gatefold.

Still got my fingers crossed that one of these days MusicOnVinyl will press/publish their own variant of the full '1.Outside' (simply because to me, MoV's quality is unparalleled. Still somewhat baffled as to why they only reissued the 'Excerpts' variant).

I think this should be RESTOCKED. Because I want all the issues from Friday Music (I have heathen and Reality) so I don’t really want a reissue but the prices are absolute CLOWNERY. Does anyone know why the prices went up? It’s not RSD or limited number of copies. If someone has a sealed copy they would like to part with for under $80 I would love to buy it. (Also applies to the Green Earthing).

This is a really wonderful release of a really fantastic album. Bowie, reinvigorated in the 90s following a period of artistic wandering, released some of his most daring and confident work in "1. Outside." To hear it ringing so crisp and clear, revealing many intricacies easily looked over in other releases, is a real pleasure.

I bought this the moment it was made available and it's been one of my favorite LPs in my collection since. If you can snag a copy for a good price, it's well worth it; it even comes equipped with the absolutely bonkers companion short story printed in the gatefold.

About this expensive white vinyl edition of Outside - and some people complaining about the price now it is collectible. One of the issues about music appreciation, marketing and 'fandom' is the phenomenon of waves of popularity in music, regardless of the quality of the music. It seems as though people want this white edition Outside only because of Bowie's current popularity and the 'perceived' value of the album NOW (rather than the music and the meaning it holds).

When Outside came out in 1995 Bowie wasn't popular anymore, he was past his heyday. It was a period which lasted about 2 x decades. People would say, 'oh, Bowie is past it now, his brilliant albums are all in the past'. In fact this album was misunderstood and under-appreciated. Fans did not flock to purchase it then. Obviously it did get some critically good reviews (they were mixed). Outside was largely ignored, despite, or even because it was a Bowie album - and - it was a return of the dynamic duo of Bowie and Eno! So, what DID fans want from Bowie, if not this? There was promise that Outside was to be a 5 x part series chronicling the coming millennium - but that never happened. Perhaps if media and fan reception had been more welcoming and appreciative then the series would have happened. Fans didn't care about a full vinyl edition of the album at that time, in fact vinyl, too, was pretty much ignored at that time.

I'm not even convinced this album is properly appreciated by those who want to purchase it now. Is this your favourite album - why do you want the full version on vinyl? Is this an album you listen to in awe? What is it you like about this album? Have you read the lyrics? What does Nathan Adler mean to you? Do you know what the Viennese Actionists, Ron Athey and Outsider Art refer to? It's extremely ironic that the title of the album Outside, is where this album firmly lay at the time. Outside, and if all continued in the same way, forgotten.

Amazingly, as often happened with Bowie, the alien was again turned inside out. And he was back in - all pretty much because of his return to form with The Next Day - an album I like, but which is pretty lame (in my small opinion) compared to Outside.

So, all of those 'fans' left on the outside, moaning because they haven't got a white vinyl edition of this album. Your moaning does not hold much meaning. You are just reflecting the down-side of the all-to-common vagaries of pop culture, popularity, music commercialism etc which Bowie was singing about, at his best, on the Outside.

Outside is a brilliant concept album. And it can be heard, in full, on CD. It takes a while to get to appreciate this album, but it is well worth the effort. As well as its particular millennial themes of that time, it holds a light to art and life in general and has a lot of fun on the way. It is a seminal, loving-the-alien Bowie album. Perhaps if you take the time to get to know the album, when you die, and get the chance to meet Bowie, you won't be strangers when you meet.

This was released in 2015. Why are people complaining about not being able to get it 2 years later. It was easily available at the time. It is a nice pressing, little surface noise. I'm sure if the boxed sets continue this will be included in the 90s box; otherwise they are bound to release a special edition...it's an album that deserves celebration in the Bowie canon.
