Not a bad package. The ephemera is whatever. I wouldn't pay $100 but $30 PopMarket close out? I'll bite! Has some really good music on it. Not top tier Prince but still quite enjoyable.

My copy sounds fantastic and came in perfect condition, being the first true album released from his vault I was very shocked by the content and the quality of the music. I can't wait for more vault releases in the future.

I wouldn’t call this stunning, nor would I judge this as inconsequential. It’s the work of a mature artist trying to impart accrued wisdom and insight - maybe a little preachy, but not wrong in his perspective. Actually if a young’n were to absorb the messages contained herein, he/she/they just may learn something. It’s a little corny (like Hot summer, and when there’s rap), but very musical and cohesive and unified in sound. W2A is cohesive and overall very good. I miss Prince and champion his legacy. The Prince estate continues to a great job curating his catalogue and I can’t wait for what’s next.

Glad these audio issues have been highlighted, thought it was my CD player at first. And yes, a few tracks do sound as if they suffer from CDr (CD-rot) degradation fluttering. Very annoying and strange that this happened on such a high profile release. I can only assume that the source tapes were damaged, as it's known that the famous vault did suffer water damage at some point. Either way, it does mar an otherwise solid release.

Does anyone elses CD import into iTunes in Japanese. I bought the deluxe set and the included CD imports in the Japanese language.

I was so excited for this but am really bummed my copy is warped. Not unplayable but definitely noticeable. I’ll try a record weight and see if that helps.

Other than that, packaging is A++. And the sound is amazing.

Anyone with even a passing familiarity with Prince's latter-day output knows that sanctioned releases were spotty as Prince struggled to secure distribution that suited him. It's a shame that finances dictated Prince's musical priorities. He often held back music that mattered to him in favor of releasing collections like 20TEN as magazine bundles for a quick payout. Is 20TEN devoid of jams? No, but it's not an essential Prince album either. Welcome 2 America is on an entirely different level, however. To lump it in with the likes of 20TEN is moronic and short-sighted. From the plaintive, organic grooves to the socially acute lyrics to the soulful falsetto peaks to the baritone spoken-word, Prince knew Welcome 2 America was an album that mattered. He didn't want to give it away as he did with Planet Earth and 20TEN, so he shelved it. But these songs reveal a depth and breadth that the magazine giveaway albums lacked. Beyond the excitement of hearing a shelved Prince record five years after his death, Welcome 2 America holds up on its own. Prince's expert pop craftsmanship runs a kaleidoscope of emotions, careening through 70's socially-conscious funk to light-hearted pop to melancholic soul balladry all showcased with masterful musicianship and range. Prince still had it in 2010. He just didn't necessarily care if you knew it.

Excellent sound and dynamic range BUT what a boring album with these NPG singers...Born to die album like 20ten.
