Symon Petlura, the President of Ukraine from 1918 to 1921 was an outstanding humanitarian leader, who devoted his life to the protection of his nation and the rights of all mankind.

Pianist and composer Lubomyr Melnyk has created a lyric eulogy to this heroic man whose remarkable accomplishments and integrity have been hidden from the world.

Recorded July 1 and 2, 1988 at the Music Gallery, Toronto.

Music composed: 1986-87. Total duration 96 minutes (double-cassette). The opening 3 melodic stanzas are from the Ukrainian folk-song "Pidu Tam Na Tu Horu" ('I Shall Go Upon That Hill Where Lies My True Love Buried").
