Incredible Vinyl. I used to have the 1999 comp but sold it when i was getting rid of CDs and regretted it not long after (Brockie was still alive at that time). This is basically pre-Hell-O GWAR. Them at their punkiest. Brockie & early GWAR deserve to be up there with all the best punk & art bands from the 80s. Get this if you still can.

The Smile or Die CD definitely has all the same songs minus the bonus tracks, but it's definitely a different transfer, on the CD you can hear crackle, etc. none of which is evident on the Digital Download that comes with this release and the sound is slightly different, not sure if this one was from the original tapes or they just did a better job doing noise reduction. Not sure if it's worth noting or not, but I just did! RIP BROCKIE!

What's the color on this one? Looks like baby-shit yellow, diarrhea, green apple splatters maybe.

Anyways this is a cool release that sounds great!

At some point before singing about a sandwich (or after a song about consumer capitalism?), Dave Brockie can't help but laugh "This has gotta be the stupidest band in the world". I'm willing to bet he wouldn't have thought someone would be getting sentimental about a Death Piggy release 35 years later, but here we are.

My favorite grab of the September drop, this compilation is packed with tracks (even more with the included download code) and they all play great. The inner sleeve has some nice wallet sized info cards printed on it where, among other things, we finally discover the meaning of the name "Death Piggy" - SPOILERS - it doesn't mean jack, kids. I think I simultaneously laughed and teared up at what it says about Dave Brockie's "claim to fame" (plus, DMV native here, the bit about the 9:30 Club didn't help). The etching after the side A tracks is neat; it's not as extensive, but it reminds me of what was done with Dwarves' 2018 RSD release. Both the labels have Death Piggies scratched (embossed maybe) on them with Brockie and Sumner's names in memory of on side B. Pressed on a heavyweight vinyl color...well the RSD site says "green" but maybe they had to call it that because more accurate description of "the color of multiple patron's urine that's been sitting in the toilet bowl at the venue bathroom because the flusher was kicked off" wouldn't exactly fly.

Would of made for a great hype sticker though.

One of the best RSD releases this year. Definitely recommended for any fan of GWAR. Be sure to pick it up now because there are only 1000 copies.
