    Hello Tracks Page Alpha testers!

We are planning to roll out our next phase of the Tracks functionality (still in Alpha) currently named "v2" early next week, but in the process of getting this ready you'll be seeing some minor changes to the existing "v1" alpha pages today (Friday September 6th) and potentially more tweaks over the weekend if any issues arise.

    Specifically:
    * The current track links on Release pages will no longer be on the titles but will be to the right of the track title with a "[v1]" link text if it's indexed in the original tracks alpha.
    * The current "Tracks" link on the artist page will instead say "Tracks v1"
    * The v1 tracks URLs will change to include a "V1" designation as in http://www.discogs.com/tracksV1

We'll be sending out more information as we get closer to opening "v2" up to the group, but we wanted to give you a heads up that things will start looking different in the interim. Stay tuned!

    Thanks,
    Jeremy

You're correct. If you want to access the list of artists indexed in "V1" you can go to http://www.discogs.com/tracksV1 (you actually uncovered a minor bug that I need to now fix, thank you). However, we will no longer be indexing tracks into V1 unless we have a compelling case for comparison.

    The Bass tracks shown under

    http://www.discogs.com/artist/Paul+Chambers/tracksV1

are not from Paul Chambers but from Paul Chambers (3)...

    similar here:

    http://www.discogs.com/artist/Tony+Williams/tracksV1

the drums tracks are from Anthony Williams ANV Tony Williams

I guess, the data is taken from the initial submissions and not from the data of the current version.

Yes, because we stopped indexing data into V1 it will become progressively out of date over time. Additionally, V1 and V2 are not really comparable "side-by-side" because the structure of a track document is quite different. What we can do is compare the functionality provided in V1 with that in V2; which can help determine if we missed any important features that need to be kept.

looks good for the given examples with the new version! Like this, it is a really good feature!
