ALICE IN CHAINS are a great band, their best studio release is their 2nd album (from 1992) and their second best studio release is their 2nd EP (from 1994), their best song IMO is "Man in the box" from their 1st album (from 1990) and one of their best songs is also "Nutshell" (from their 2nd EP from 1994)!

Of all 5 most known "grunge" bands (grunge = Seattle style and Seattle sounding style rock music), I would call grunge (rock) PEARL JAM, SOUNDGARDEN and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, partly NIRVANA (they were partly a punk band), and only partly ALICE IN CHAINS which had metal regarding heavy guitars merged in their sound and style in many songs on most of their studio releases (ALICE IN CHAINS became a 2 vocalists band on their second studio release, which was their 1st EP, and on their first studio release, which was their 1st album, some of the songs include elements of hard rock, rock n' roll and even funk, and on their 2nd EP the last song includes elements of jazz)!

Anyone know when they are going to finally release the box set for Facelift?

Personally I'd like to have the "Live" album on vinyl. It may not be the best sounding live album, but it has exactly the raw sound, emotion, and blood-curdling howl of Layne's voice that is what caught my attention from the first AIC Album. I wouldn't mind if they put out other live albums of shows that have not been released yet. Tripod would be nice too.

I'd love to get another music bank. There's still plenty of good "layne-era" aic music out there. Just give me the whole catalog. I'll even listen to the unfinished stuff.

Can we get a MOV reissue of Facelift like they did for dirt. I think everyone here would like that. Fans of new Chains and fans of old.

I know a lot of people do not like the new alice in chains after Layne passed away, I don't like the new one as much either. You have to admit though, that they still kept their style and didn't sell out or change their style. Alice In Chains was Jerry's band. Layne brought in the name, but Jerry was the one that wrote and produced the music, and gave Alice In Chains the style they are known for. If Jerry died instead of Layne, that would have affected the band much more, and you probably don't want that to happen either.

Their new albums may not have the voice and deep meaning (about drugs) as they they used to, but they are still Alice In Chains.
